What is the latest firmware version for these cards,
and where can it be downloaded?

I'm presently using NetworkManager with the orinoco_cs driver,
and I seem to get better results with a card running version 8.72 .
(It seems to be better at scanning.)
However, I don't know where I got this driver,
and I'd like to update a couple of other cards I have.

Is this the latest firmware version?

Any suggestions of where to get it gratefully received.
I looked at the Proxim site, but it wasn't clear to me
what versions one can download from there.

I believe 8.72 is the latest firmware that can be flashed permanently.
Newer firmware is loaded into the card memory and gets lost on power
cycle. Note that orinoco_cs doesn't support firmware loading yet.

I wonder if anyone has had success lately upgrading the firmware
on classic Orinoco cards?
I know I upgraded a card to 8.72 under Windows-2000,
but I didn't have any success today under Windows XP.

I downloaded the latest firmware.zip from
<http://support.proxim.com/cgi-bin/proxim.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1082>
but when I clicked on WSU10872.exe
I was told "No wireless card driver found.
Make sure that the right driver is installed,
and the wireless card is inserted.
Please check our website for information
about the latest available drivers and firmware updates."

(There is a Help File which gives the website as
<http:www.waveland.com>
which does not appear to exist any more.)

I tried installing various drivers,
including the one from the same site,
but I always got the same message.

If anyone has had better luck upgrading,
I'd be very grateful if they could tell me the secret.

Incidnetally, I wanted to download the new firmware
because I thought it might work better with NetworkManager,
but in fact I'm not sure if my 8.72 card works any better with NM
than my 6.04 one.
