Hi everyone!

I just installed Ubuntu 5.10 in a old compaq Armada 7400 a friend of my gave
me a silver proxim wireless networks/Orinoco 82.11b PC Card model is 8421-WD
the laptop doesn't recognize the card. When i look at the manager devices it
says "unknown device" there are many driver and i would like to pick the
right one. Please if someone can help me. if this list is not the right
place to ask. sorry

Please don't rephrase the error messages. It's also important that you
specify the version of the software, in this case the kernel and the
driver.

The kernel messages can be seen if you run dmesg. This may have some
useful information.

Use "pccardctl ident" or "cardctl ident" to identify the card. Use
"modprobe orinoco_cs" to load the driver manually.

I did try the command you gave me and didn't work. I'll post the kernel
soon. can't do it right now.

I running Ubuntu 5.10 with a kernel version 2.6.12-9-386 Mon Oct 10 13:14:36
BST 2005 i680 GN/Linux

When I tried modprobe orinico-cs. it said no directory, can't insert, etc.
